The workshop, which was held under the title “The Developmental Role of Small and Medium Enterprises and the Uses of Renewable Energy” today at the Arab Cultural Center in El-Adawy, focused on the role of these projects and their contribution to economic growth under the current circumstances.

Dr. Ihab Ismandar, Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, explained that the vision that the Authority holds as a main body in regulating the affairs of small and medium enterprises is for these projects to be a real and basic incubator for all

human and material energies in Syria and to invest the wasted energies by supporting the development process of society.

Ismandar indicated the importance of these projects for their contribution to economic growth, support for creativity and innovation in them, and the provision of opportunities to those in charge of them and those who work in them by providing a conducive legislative and administrative environment and providing the necessary facilities from the concerned authorities, at least during the first years of launching any project, especially as it is a mainstay in solving the problem of unemployment in a way. It brings economic benefits to the individual and the local community.

With regard to renewable energies and their use, Dr. Eng. Younis Ali, Director General of the National Center for Energy Research confirmed the existence of a governmental plan, a national program, legislation and work mechanisms to finance renewable energy projects and how to benefit from them in light of the current conditions that Syria is going through and the lack of energy resources due to the repercussions of the war that was imposed on it, indicating that The plan includes the completion of 1500 megawatts of electricity generation through solar energy and 900 megawatts of wind energy, and the installation of at least 1.2 million solar heaters by 2030.

Ali indicated that this issue needs to be highlighted from various technical and economic aspects to encourage citizens, noting that the creation of the Renewable Energies Support Fund promulgated by Law No. 23 of 2021 is a strong and encouraging platform in this field for many citizens in a way that they can benefit from these energies.
