Within the activities of the Pink Month, more than 8,000 women beneficiaries in As-Suwayda

Awareness activities, seminars, field tours, examinations, medical consultations and radiology services were conducted by the Directorate of Health in Sweida this month to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer within the activities of the “Pink Month”.

Head of the Public Health Programs Department at the Health Directorate, Dr. Nahida Nasr, stressed the importance of early detection of breast cancer and intensifying activities related to this disease during the pink month in terms of forming teams from reproductive health elements that visited homes and many governmental and non-governmental institutions to spread this important message and invite women to visit Health centers and holding educational seminars and lectures in health centers.

Nasr indicated that the number of women who benefited from the awareness campaign through field tours in various sectors, home visits, women's sessions and seminars during the first three weeks of this month amounted to about 8,666 women. The specialist doctor, Dr. Madin Zahr El-Din, one of the participants in the educational seminars and lectures, indicated that the focus was on providing adequate information about the disease in terms of its prevalence rates, risk factors, characteristics of healthy and malignant breast masses, methods of early detection and advanced procedures when there is a suspicion of infection.

For her part, coordinator of the Positive Health Program at the Health Directorate, Raja Nasr, indicated that during the various activities carried out by the department during this month, positive health services were introduced in general and the early detection service for breast cancer in all health centers in the governorate, which numbered 86 health centers, and the introduction of women About the locations of mammography scans at Martyr Zaid Al-Shatiari Hospital in the city of As-Suwayda, Al-Basel Hospital in Salkhad, and the Comprehensive Clinics Health Center.

Both women, Kholoud and Rana, indicated that they were keen to attend a lecture on early detection of breast cancer because of the importance of this topic and the urgent need to obtain accurate information in terms of detection, steps, methods of prevention and treatment from the specialist doctor, especially that one of them and her family went through an experience after her mother's injury, but she recovered.
