This is reported by the city's press spokesman, Thomas Loibl.
“The detonator is still smoking,” said Loibl, who, like Mayor Michael Müller, expressly thanks the “heroes of the day”.
The 150 kilogram bomb was found on Monday morning during construction work on a property on Dompfaffenweg.
After successfully defusing the dud, a good 2,000 people can now return to their houses and apartments in Gartenberg.

Due to the Corona situation at the time, the residents could not leave the area. The 75 kilogram bomb was removed and defused in a forest in the north of the city. The dangerous remains come from the last days of World War II: At the beginning of April 1945, the US Army flew a massive attack on the Nazi armaments factory of Dynamit Aktien Gesellschaft in what is now the Geretsried district of Gartenberg. More than 2,000 bombs fell - not all of them exploded.

The police headquarters of Upper Bavaria South in Rosenheim announced in a first press release: On Monday morning, October 25, World War II ammunition was found during construction work on a private property on Dompfaffenweg in Geretsried.
It is a 150 kilogram bomb that contains around 15 to 20 kilograms of explosives.

All residents who have to leave the affected area are offered opportunities to stay in public buildings: the gym of the Isardammschule and the council rooms on Karl-Lederer-Platz.
