A two-year-old toddler was taken to Soroka Hospital today (Tuesday) in critical condition, after drowning in the Negev region.
MDA medics and paramedics provided him with medical treatment and evacuated him to the hospital while performing resuscitation operations.
MDA emergency medical medics, Israel Katz and Aviv Lebanon, said: "We were on our way to the hospital with another patient, when we noticed people signaling us to stop at a stop on the side of the road.
They brought us an unconscious toddler after he apparently drowned.
We performed medical tests on him, he was without a pulse and without breathing and we immediately started performing advanced resuscitation operations that included massages and resuscitation, and when an MDA intensive care unit arrived, we transferred him to them and they evacuated him to a hospital while continuing resuscitation operations. "
Orly Silvinger, CEO of the organization Before Child Safety, said: "Our data show that children in Bedouin society are at the highest risk of death in accidents compared to all Israeli children.
This is not a matter of fate.
"Most child accidents can be prevented by adopting safe behavior and adjusting infrastructure. We call on the government to expand and invest in both safe infrastructure and programs to promote behavior change and advocacy with the understanding that it is about mindfulness and saving children's lives."
According to data from the organization Before Child Safety, since the beginning of the year, 18 children have drowned, three of whom belong to the Bedouin society in the Negev.
