Within the activities of the national campaign to raise awareness of early detection of breast cancer, the Businesswomen’s Committee in the Tartous Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Directorates of Health, Education and the Local Community, organized a women’s walk that started from the Corniche, passing through the old city, to the cultural center.

In statements to SANA's reporter, Dr. Reem Harfouche, the responsible for the adolescent health program of the Tartous Health Directorate, indicated that the women's participation in the march is a message of support for every woman diagnosed with cancer, pointing out the importance of providing psychological support by the community to encourage women to conduct an early examination for breast cancer, which helps with treatment in a way easier and more comprehensive.

Shatha Muhammad, a member of the Businesswomen's Committee at the Tartous Chamber of Industry and Commerce, pointed out that the committee is trying, through the process, to emphasize the necessity that women's attention to their health should not be focused only on the pink month, because any harm to her health later will lead to harm to her family.

Nayrouz Yazigi, a member of the Businesswomen's Committee in Tartous, indicated that she is participating in the campaign to encourage women to detect early cancer, while Ronda Salloum, one of the participants, stressed the need for women to take care of themselves and to detect early breast cancer.

In addition to the march, the committee also held an awareness-raising scientific symposium in the hall of the Arab Cultural Center in Tartous, in which the Reproductive Health Program Officer at the Directorate of Health, Dr. Siham Mansoura, presented general statistics on the incidence of injuries and pointed to the need for early detection of the disease.
