The Schuhbeck brand is saved!

Investors want to take over the company of the insolvent celebrity chef and continue to employ a large part of the employees - including Schuhbeck himself.

Munich - It has been less than four weeks since the insolvency proceedings for the Schuhbeck companies were opened - as early as November 1st, an unnamed investor group will take over the Südtiroler Stuben am Platzl, the party service and the spice trade. 90 of the 120 employees will continue to be employed. "It is a great success and cause for joy for everyone involved that, despite the difficult framework conditions, we have now succeeded in finding a continuation solution," says insolvency administrator Dr. Max Liebig. Schuhbeck himself was not available for a statement on Tuesday.

It is not yet known who the mysterious investors are.

What is certain, however: Schuhbeck himself will not ban the unnamed investors from the company - on the contrary.

"His person and his brand were and will continue to be the basis of the business activities of the companies that have now been transferred," explains Liebig.

There have been numerous discussions with potential investors in the past few weeks - the solution of continuing to work with Schuhbeck has been favored.

Schuhbeck bankruptcy: Orlando will remain closed forever

The investors want to merge the Schuhbeck companies into a new company, Schuhbeck's Company GmbH. Schuhbeck's second restaurant Orlando at Platzl 4 in Munich * is already closed - and will remain so. The five-storey corner house has belonged to the Messerschmitt Foundation since 1997. This contradicts media reports, according to which restaurateur Ulrich Springer (including Café Reitschule) is taking over the restaurant: “There is no new tenant fixed yet”, it was said on request.

In July Schuhbeck announced his insolvency and blamed the lack of state corona aid.

However, the financial situation of his company network was very difficult years before Corona, as can be seen from the annual reports up to 2016 published in the Federal Gazette.

Tax investigations have also been underway against the celebrity chef for a long time, as the restaurateur has admitted.

In addition, the Federal Office of Justice is taking action against Schuhbeck because he has not published any annual reports for his companies since 2016.
