US President Joe Biden signed a resolution stipulating the imposition of obtaining the vaccine against Covid 19 for most foreigners coming to the country by air, and the lifting of severe travel restrictions that were imposed on China, India and many European countries, with effect from the eighth of next month.
The decision, which was reported by the White House yesterday and reported by Reuters, said, “It is in the interest of the United States to cancel the restrictions that were imposed on certain countries due to the Covid 19 pandemic and to implement a new system that relies primarily on vaccination for the safe resumption of flights to the United States.”
The White House confirmed that people under 18 and older people with health problems would be exempted from the new rules. Non-tourist travelers from about 50 countries with vaccination rates of 10 percent or less will get an exception to the rules and will have to get vaccinated within 60 days of Arrival in the United States.
Those countries include Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, Armenia, Myanmar, Iraq, Nicaragua, Senegal, Libya, Ethiopia, Zambia, Congo, Kenya, Yemen, Haiti, Chad and Madagascar.
Air travelers will have to provide proof that they have received a vaccination against Covid 19 from an official source, and airlines must ensure that the passenger receives the second dose at least two weeks before the date of travel.
The White House clarified that Americans who did not get vaccinated and foreigners who do get an exception will have to submit a negative test for COVID-19 conducted one day before departure.
The US restrictions were imposed at the beginning of 2020 to counter the spread of the Corona pandemic and prevented the entry of most non-US citizens who, during the 14 days before their arrival in the country, were present in Britain and the 26 Schengen zone countries, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran and Brazil.
