A 64-year-old caver injured his ankle around 5 p.m. on Monday, October 25, while he was in depth in Bidon (Ardèche) in the Aven de Noël.
He was accompanied by caving friends, some of whom came to the surface to call for help.

Thirty rescuers were hired on the spot to evacuate the man trapped in the cavity, after two wells 30 and 90 meters high and a corridor around one hundred meters long.
The first rescue team came down shortly after 8 p.m.
Anchors and ropes were installed to bring up the injured person who was transported to Bagnols-sur-Cèze hospital once the reassembly operation was completed, around one in the morning.
