The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, described the Israeli occupation authorities’ decision to classify six Palestinian civil society organizations as “terrorist organizations” as “an attack on human rights defenders, the freedom of association, opinion and expression, and the right to public participation.”
In a statement issued today, Bachelet called on the occupation authorities to rescind the decision and said, “Demanding rights before the United Nations or any other international body is not an act of terrorism, defending women’s rights in the occupied Palestinian territory is not terrorism, and providing legal aid to detained Palestinians is not terrorism.”
