The authorities in the Chinese capital, Beijing, imposed new measures to limit the spread of Covid 19, after new local infections appeared in recent days.
The Xinhua News Agency quoted Beijing Municipal Government spokesman Xu Hejian as saying during a press conference that the authorities in the capital urged residents not to leave the city unless necessary and prevented those in areas with new infections from entering the capital.
"Health codes for all travelers to Beijing at the airport, railway station or bus station should be checked upon their arrival and those without a green health code should be prohibited from boarding planes, trains and buses."
The authorities suspended tour groups across provinces, and allowed local parks, theaters and museums to operate at a capacity of 75 percent, while the recreational facilities in residential complexes such as chess rooms and playing cards were temporarily closed.
Xu said authorities have encouraged the use of video conferencing to replace in-person meetings and forums to help reduce the number of people coming to Beijing.
