Bike protection strips at the end

“The good thing is that we apply in double shifts,” says Franz Albrecht from the Neudert engineering office in Herrsching.

The low night-time temperatures will therefore probably not thwart the end of the construction work on Mühlfelder Straße.

After the autumn break, the spook should be over.

Herrsching

- Cyclists have been diverted to the road in the Seespitz area, which has already been paved on one side, for a few weeks now, while the sidewalks and cycle paths are currently being equipped with new street lighting. As soon as this work is completed, the pavement and bike path will be restored and the road will be completely asphalted, says Albrecht. Since the asphalt top layer is applied to the “fresh” binding layer, the lower layer is still warm enough. Because in order to be able to apply the top layer, a constant minimum of five degrees Celsius is required. As soon as this is done, the provisional bypass of this section can be removed via the panorama road, said Albrecht. This is the case by mid-November at the latest. "I hope it goes quickly," says the engineer.

At the same time, work is being carried out on the kerbstones in the area between Summerstrasse and the petrol station, and the sidewalks are being made.

As planned, this last section will be asphalted for four days at night in the first week of the holiday “from Tuesday to Friday on Saturday”.

"Traffic can flow during the day," promises Albrecht.

As reported, work on the approximately one kilometer long section of Mühlfelder Strasse has been going on since July and for the most part without any special incidents.

Apart from the fact that there was a traffic jam when the traffic lights at the temporary bypass started.

Otherwise, according to Albrecht, everything went according to plan.

Four projects were implemented in four traffic phases: a new canal route was built, a new drinking water pipeline laid (both are necessary for the new high school), the roadway renovated, and sidewalks and lighting renewed.

The total cost was given as 2.8 million euros.

As of today, everything is on schedule, says Albrecht.

This also applies to the expansion of Rieder Straße including the construction of a traffic island in the extension of the state road in the area between Hechendorfer Straße and the new Fendlbach housing estate.

This work has already been completed.

What is still missing is the two-sided bicycle protection strip along Rieder Straße.

However, since this must also be reapplied on Mühlfelder Straße, this work will be carried out in one go as soon as the entire Mühlstraße is restored.
