Brandenburg has asked the European Commission for further support for the state's path towards climate neutrality.

The European Green Deal and digitization are opportunities and drivers in the process of climate neutrality. At the same time, however, the needs of companies must be taken into account, he made clear. This concerns both sufficient time and financial leeway for adjustment.

Woidke cited the Lausitz energy region as an example.

The process of change initiated by the Green Deal could succeed there.

In this context, he pointed out that the energy transition is also associated with additional burdens.

A sensible balance must be found for this.

“It must be ensured that the energy prices for the citizens do not go through the roof.

We need climate protection with social guard rails, ”explained Woidke.
