The Hohenbrunn municipal council reacted to the increasing number of infections and canceled the Christmas market this year.
But an alternative is planned.
Hohenbrunn
- A little damper for the pre-Christmas mood in Hohenbrunn: The Christmas market does not take place this year.
The council decided that.
Alternatively, there should be a winter magic.
As Mayor Stefan Straßmair (CSU) reported, the administration asked the associations for a picture of the mood: "Can we hold a Christmas market with all the requirements in pandemic times?" Some associations agreed, others refused. On the part of the state government, it is quite conceivable to hold a Christmas market. “But compliance with the distance regulation is a problem,” emphasized Straßmair. After all, a Christmas market also lives from standing together. And then sometimes a mug of mulled wine can be drunk. But alcohol is such an issue. It encourages people not to adhere to the rules. Which is not to say that the town hall chief wants to spoil the fun: "It is high time people got together again." But it must also be clear: a Christmas market,as the Hohenbrunners are used to, it couldn't be this year or so.
So it is inconceivable that numerous children sing songs together, that the Punch and Judy comes to the town hall and the usual tightness should not exist either.
Straßmair sees the good reputation of the Hohenbrunn Christmas market in jeopardy if one should simply ignore the fact that on the third Sunday in Advent there cannot be such a market as it was until 2019.
Incomprehension and approval
These words met with little understanding from the ÜWG / FW Citizens' Forum. Manfred Haucke explained that if Munich had a Christmas market, Hohenbrunn could too. Group colleague Peter Berger swore that it would be enough to appeal to the common sense of the individual. Not everything has to be checked. Especially since the area has also been straightened out by fewer stalls. Pauline Miller said that Munich had made a "pioneering decision".
More moderate tones came from other council members.
Wolfgang Schmidhuber (Greens) welcomed the town hall administration's proposal to alternatively offer winter magic on individual days in Advent at Pfarrer-Wenk-Platz.
According to Straßmair, three stands could be set up where clubs could offer drinks, hot snacks and snacks.
Schmidhuber: "It would be worth a try."
Mechthild Heinmüller, herself a doctor, noted that the infection rate was picking up speed at a rapid pace.
She understands the need to get together, but a Christmas market in the previous style should be approached with great caution this year.
And that's how the majority in the council saw it in the end.
Eight hands went up for the Christmas market, eleven for the winter magic.
As a result, there is an alternative offer in Advent this year.
