Classic under the sky of Dießen

Dießen - Due to the corona, fans of the Münster concerts had to wait for over a year until another classical concert evening was allowed to take place under the “Dießen Heaven” in the splendid church space of Marienmünster. The usual long-term planning of the big autumn concert turned out to be rather sporty this time.

Münster organist and choir director Stephan Ronkov was only able to rehearse with the project choir for a few weeks, but with full enthusiasm.

Finally on the program was Joseph Haydn's “Missa in Tempore Belli”, a mass in times of war, better known as “Timpani Mass”.

It was intended to commemorate Napoléon Bonaparte, who came from Italy and threatened Vienna in the first coalition war.

The bangs are a slowed-down image of the French army drum roll.

Together with the Munich Ensemble Lodron and top-class soloists, there was an excellent sounding spectacle for all the senses, worthy of the tradition of the autumn concerts.

Stephan Ronkov at the conductor's desk mastered the close-knit connection of orchestra, choir and soloists with flying colors, which he nevertheless gave room to develop.

The soprano Danielle Zuber shone, who, in addition to her solo career, is one of the most sought-after singing teachers for TV formats and currently teaches at the Küsnacht music school.

Tenor Nikolaus Pfannkuch comes from Penzberg and is a member of the Bavarian Radio's regular choir.

Florence Losseau (Mezzospran) belongs to the opera studio at the Landestheater Linz and Bass Thomas Gropper is a professor at the University of Music and Theater in Munich.

Together with the Münster project choir, they provided the necessary penetrating power and clear articulation, which could still be understood even in the back rows of the nave.

The orchestra “Ensemble Lodron”, named after the Salzburg countess and Mozart patron Antonia Lodron, was founded by the Munich star violinist Matthias-Ulrich König and has been delighting with its chamber music and chamber orchestra performances live as well as radio and television recordings since 1989.

It is also an integral part of the annual concert series in Andechs Monastery.

Matthias-Ulrich König played the first part of the autumn concert with his Ensemble Lodron. Ludwig van Beethoven's only completed violin concerto with a symphonic length of 40 minutes demanded everything from him as a soloist. It is not for nothing that the book “History of the Violin Playing” from 1927 says that this concert is part of the iron repertoire of every violinist “who wants to be more than just a virtuoso”. Frenetic applause thanked König, who is also a permanent member of the Bavarian State Opera.

Such top-class concerts at moderate admission prices could not be realized without donations and sponsors, emphasized Annette Rießner from the “Friends of the Dießen Minster Concerts eV” in her introductory words.

She expressly thanked the community of Dießen, the Landsberger Kulturförderung, the district of Upper Bavaria, the VR-Bank Landsberg-Ammersee, the Sparkasse Landsberg-Dießen and the Römhild pharmacy.

The next concert will take place on Sunday, November 21st at 4 pm, with the award-winning ensemble “L'Art du Bois” and festive baroque music by Abel, Barsanti, Telemann and Kapsberger.
