The government’s $5,000 electronic consumer vouchers program has been launched for three months. The deadline for citizens who apply electronically to receive the first $2,000 will expire at the end of this month.
The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said today (26th) that a small number of citizens who have received Octopus have still not tapped their cards. They believed that other batches and periods of consumer vouchers might have the same situation, so they decided to use Octopus. The period for the receipt of consumer vouchers will be extended to September 30 next year.

The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said in the afternoon that citizens who were issued the first batch of consumer vouchers on August 1 and applied for it in Badal City were originally scheduled to take the card before the deadline of next Sunday (31st), but So far, a small number of citizens have not yet taken the card, so they decided to extend the collection period.
The authorities also anticipate that the same situation may occur for the remaining batches and periods of consumer vouchers. In order to simplify the arrangement, the public is not required to calculate the collection period for consumer vouchers issued at different times, and all batches and periods of consumer vouchers are announced. The collection period will be extended to September 30 next year.
The authorities emphasized that the new measures will not affect other existing arrangements for the government to issue consumer vouchers to eligible citizens through Octopus.

From August 1st, the government will issue consumer vouchers to citizens who have successfully registered in batches and installments. Those who choose to use Octopus to receive consumer vouchers must tap the card to collect them before using the vouchers. People can go to MTR stations and light rail stations. Station passenger service centers, designated piers and public transportation interchanges, designated convenience stores and supermarkets, Octopus service stations or tap the card through the Octopus mobile app.
According to the original arrangement, citizens must tap the card within three months from the issuance date of each issue of consumer vouchers, and the amount of vouchers that are not received after the expiry date will automatically become invalid.
