District - In the short term, there will be no new restrictions in the Miesbach district due to the current high number of infections.

This was made clear by the Miesbach district administrator Olaf von Löwis (CSU) on the sidelines of the cabinet meeting in Munich.

The Council of Ministers had previously met with representatives of the regions in south-east Upper Bavaria particularly affected by Corona.

There, Prime Minister Markus Söder had pointed out to the district administrators that they can issue “additional orders” on the basis of the current legislation.

This could be, for example, the introduction of a 2G rule at larger events or the call to voluntarily wear masks in secondary schools.

No restrictions yet, but the district administrator wants to remain vigilant

There is currently no talk of this in the Miesbach district office.

But: "In the coming days and weeks we will be thinking intensively whether and, if so, which restrictions might be necessary at the local level." The responsibility here is the coordination group made up of representatives from the medical profession, the hospital, the vaccination center, the police, the schools and of course the district office.

Difficult to convey local individual decisions

However, Löwis does not consider going it alone by the district to be expedient.

"I would generally prefer supraregional solutions because the pandemic has shown that it is very difficult to convey local individual decisions." Often citizens would simply break rules out of ignorance.

On top of that, there is currently no concrete starting point.

Löwis: "Due to the diffuse infection process, it is very difficult to make arrangements, because we have not yet known that there are hotspots that can best be met with further restrictions." On the other hand, those responsible could "not see how." the hospitals in the region are filling up more and more ”.

A tightrope walk, says Löwis, who wants to continue the exchange with his counterparts.
