Anyone who installs a mini solar system on the balcony can apply for a subsidy from the city of Unterschleißheim.
Unterschleißheim
- Mini-PV systems on the balcony contribute at least a small part to the energy transition and will be funded in Unterschleißheim in the future.
Tenants or owners who install a mini solar system on their balcony should receive grants from the city from 2022: 25 percent of the acquisition costs, or a maximum of 200 euros.
The Environment and Transport Committee recommended this unanimously to the city council at the request of the Greens.
A standard solar module with 300 watts of power, which hangs on a south-facing balcony, supplies around 200 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
According to the city council, this corresponds roughly to the annual consumption of a refrigerator and washing machine in a two-person household.
At an electricity price of 27 cents, this would result in savings of around 55 euros per year.
This means that the cost of the module of 350 to 500 euros would be paid off after six to nine years.
The service life of the solar module is assumed to be 20 years, so from the city's point of view, the purchase is worthwhile from a financial perspective, but also from an ecological point of view: In the 20 years, around 2.5 tons of CO2 are saved.
5000 euros in the funding pot
A standard module is 1.70 meters tall, weighs 20 kilograms and delivers 280 to 350 watts.
At 400 euros, such a plug-in solar device on the balcony is, according to information from the Munich-Ebersberg Energy Agency, significantly cheaper than a smaller photovoltaic system that has an output of up to four kilowatts, produces around 4,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year and costs around 7,200 euros plus VAT.
From 2022 to 2024, an annual funding pot of 5000 euros is planned in the budget.
25 plants could be funded per year.
"If the demand increases, you can increase the total amount of funding," said Mayor Christoph Böck (SPD).
