A good four weeks after the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the MPs will meet for the first time in Schwerin on Tuesday (2 p.m.).
At the constituent meeting, the state parliament issues rules of procedure and elects the presidium.
The SPD had nominated the President of the Landtag, Birgit Hesse, for another term of office.
The choice of the 46-year-old is considered safe.
Schwerin - The CDU is sending Beate Schlupp into the race for re-election as first vice-president, the left-wing nominated parliamentarian Elke-Annette Schmidt for the office of second vice-president.
There is a dispute over the election of further vice-presidents in the state parliament, which has six parliamentary groups.
The opening speech will be given by AfD member Horst Förster in his capacity as senior president.
At 79, the former judge is currently the oldest member of parliament.
For the first time, the state parliament has 79 members instead of the previous 71.
The reason for this are so-called overhang and compensation mandates.
The constituent meeting will take place without any corona-related minimum intervals.
The members of the now six parliamentary groups would sit in the regular rows of chairs.
There will be no additional tables behind, as they were customary until June to maintain the distance, said the parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group, Jochen Schulte, on Monday in Schwerin.

The new AfD parliamentary group in the state parliament re-elected its chairman Nikolaus Kramer after a four-hour session.
Kramer's preferred candidate for the post of Parliamentary Managing Director, Thomas de Jesus Fernandes, on the other hand, had to admit defeat to MP Thore Stein.
"The majority of the parliamentary group decided differently and of course - as it should be - I support this majority decision," said Kramer on Friday after the election.

Five days after the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the first exploratory discussion between the election winner SPD and the CDU will take place this Friday.
This was confirmed by party circles on Thursday at the request of the German press agency.

As a rule, confidentiality is agreed for exploratory talks;
it is about a first tapping of positions in order to sound out possible overlaps and compromise possibilities.

As a spokesman for the state parliament announced, the state parliament administration had proposed a hygiene concept for the plenary hall after discussions with the Schwerin health department, which all parliamentary groups had followed.
Accordingly, the so-called 3G regulation will be implemented in principle.
Everyone in attendance, including all MPs, would be vaccinated, recovered, or tested.
The plenary hall also has a state-of-the-art ventilation system that ensures a permanent exchange of air.
