The Greek authorities blamed the Turkish regime for causing the sinking of a boat carrying illegal immigrants, resulting in the death of four children and the loss of a person off the Greek island of Chios in the Aegean Sea near the Turkish coast.
Greek Migration Minister Notis Mitarachi, in a tweet he posted on his account on the social networking site Twitter today, criticized the Turkish regime's failure to make efforts to prevent the exploitation of migrants by criminal gangs, saying, "These trips should not even take place, this is the reality of the exploitation of criminal gangs." for migrants in the Aegean Sea.
"It is tragic, but despite all the efforts made by the Greek coast guard, four boys between the ages of 3 and 14 were confirmed dead, one person missing, 22 people rescued and taken to land," Mitarachi said.
Last April, the Minister of Immigration condemned the Turkish regime's continued provocations by pushing boats carrying migrants into its territorial waters.
"The overcrowded boat set sail from Turkey, and despite strong winds, the smugglers did not distribute life jackets to the migrants," according to a statement issued by the Greek coast guard.
In a previous outcome, the Greek coast guard announced today the death of three migrants and the loss of three others after their boat sank carrying 27 migrants, while relief teams managed to rescue 21 others.
It is noteworthy that thousands of migrants from the countries of the Middle East and North Africa have drowned in the Mediterranean during the past years while trying to reach European countries due to the crimes of terrorist organizations in their countries and Western interference in the affairs of some countries in the region.
