The Greens in Schleswig-Holstein have congratulated Environment Minister Jan Philipp Albrecht on being nominated as the new board member of the Heinrich Böll Foundation. "In the event of his election by the general assembly, he would give the foundation a new shape with his clever thoughts, his perspective as a European parliamentarian and his direct government experience as climate protection minister in this important office," said co-state chairman Steffen Regis on Tuesday morning.

The Greens in Schleswig-Holstein have congratulated Environment Minister Jan Philipp Albrecht on being nominated as the new board member of the Heinrich Böll Foundation.

"In the event of his election by the general assembly, he would give the foundation a new look with his clever thoughts, his perspective as a European parliamentarian and his direct government experience as climate protection minister in this important office," said co-state chairman Steffen Regis on Tuesday morning.

Kiel - As Regis emphasized, a possible move Albrecht to Berlin would also be “a great loss for us in Schleswig-Holstein, which we very much regret”.

The 38-year-old Albrecht, who had been traded as a possible top candidate of the Greens for the state elections in May 2022, had confirmed on Monday a report in the "Lübecker Nachrichten" that he had been nominated as a future co-director of the foundation.

He wanted to exercise his ministerial office “with full strength and fight for a strong green result” until the state elections in the coming year, said Albrecht.

The previous co-board members of the political foundation, Ellen Ueberschär and Barbara Unmüßig, are said to be leaving in spring 2022.

A general meeting at the beginning of December will decide on their successors.
