The new season of the HBO comedy series was written during Closures, but Larry David does not need the Corona for funny ideas

As we learned to know Larry David, if he imagines heaven, then there will likely be strict corona regulations.

After all, his egocentric and misanthropic character has longed for ten seasons for such a limited world, which would require as little interaction as possible with annoying humans.

A reality where you are not approached on the street, there are no unnecessary social gatherings, you leave the house only for essential needs, maintain hygiene, argue about vaccines, and live in a world that feels like an episode of "calm down".

In short, the corona seemed to have been invented for Larry David.

At the same time "Calm Down" is already an iconic series, which has secured a place in every cultural pantheon.

This month marked 21 years since its launch.

It's the oldest remade series aired on HBO, and after a hundred episodes (which even included a sequel to "Seinfeld") one can agree that David's human comedy is one of the most successful series in the world.

Yesterday, the 11th season was launched, the first since the outbreak of the Corona.

It was written during the closure period, but feels just like in the "normal" world that was before the plague.

Larry grows old, and in the premiere episode he jokes about funerals and crashes into a glass door, forcing him to deal with age issues and a womb attitude from society.

At the same time, his character sells to Netflix a silly series about the experiences of the young Larry from the beginning of his career.

Did you really expect to receive something else from him?

David said in pre-season interviews that after all the possible corona jokes had been told, his plan was to go out with the new season in the post-epidemic world.

But Corona has its own pace of progress, and the schedules have faltered a bit.

In fact, two mentions of Corona were recorded in the first chapter.

Jokes about the use of alcohol, and a more significant twist when at a certain moment it turns out that one of the characters is a "corona collector" - that is, stores a disproportionate amount of toilet paper, disinfectants, etc. in her home.

And that's probably the hidden message that David's trying to convey to us.

The fact that despite the early expectation from him he decided to push the corona aside and show us that the human race is still very annoying and petty and selfish, and it has nothing to do with a global epidemic.

Larry David does not need the corona for great comedy ideas because as long as humans continue to be humans he has no material shortage even after 21 years.
