Despite the requirement to wear a mask in many schools in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the number of students, teachers and employees infected with the coronavirus has more than doubled in the past seven days.
On Tuesday, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) reported 127 ongoing cases of infection in 71 schools in the country.
Last Tuesday there were 57 in 41 schools.
Rostock - Due to the increased number of infections in the overall population, all districts and urban districts in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have now reached the yellow level on the state risk map.
In all regions except for the Mecklenburg Lake District, it is again compulsory to wear a mask at school.
In the Lake District, this could happen in the next few days if the region stays in the yellow category.

Over 200 people infected with corona in schools
The number of corona infections in schools is steadily increasing.
On Thursday, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania reported 219 ongoing cases - 211 students and eight teachers or employees at a total of 51 schools.
The affected children and teachers are in two-week quarantine and cannot attend classes.

The seven-day incidence of new corona infections rose in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from 49.7 to 50.5 on Saturday.
As the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) announced, 111 new cases were registered.
That's 20 less than on Friday and 24 more than a week ago.

The number of Brandenburg students and teachers who are in quarantine due to corona cases has decreased slightly compared to the previous week.
