Iranian police seized more than 1,600 kilograms of narcotics in several operations against smuggling gangs in Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeast of Iran.
Fars News Agency quoted the provincial police chief, Brigadier General Ahmed Taheri, as saying in a statement today that the anti-drug police carried out several operations yesterday in the cities of Seeb, Soran and Sarawan, during which gangs smuggling narcotics were dismantled in the south of the province.
Taheri added that during these operations, two cars containing more than 1,617 kilograms of drugs were confiscated, and four dealers were arrested, in addition to the seizure of some weapons and a quantity of ammunition.
The Iranian authorities are continuing their campaigns to pursue drug smugglers and dealers in several regions of the country.
