Japan today launched a new satellite into orbit to replace the old satellite to determine the precise global positions.
"The new satellite, which was loaded onto an H2A rocket, was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture in southwestern Japan," Xinhua quoted Japanese authorities as saying.
The new satellite will replace Michibiki No. 1, which was launched in 2010 and has reached the end of its design life.
