The Arabella Brauneck Hotel has a new owner.

He promises that the one in the house, one of the most distinctive buildings in Lenggries, will remain a hotel in the future.

Lenggries

- The Schörghuber family's Blue Lion GmbH has sold the Arabella Brauneck Hotel to a company owned by Lenggrieser Christoph Hertwig.

The company announced this in a press release on Monday.

In addition, the local council was informed in the evening.

The sale of the Arabelle Brauneck Hotel in Lenggries had been planned for a long time

The Brauneck Hotel is one of the most striking buildings in the village. It was opened in 1972 when the Olympic Games were taking place in Munich. For almost 50 years, the hotel has been “an important component in the tourist offer of the Tölzer Land”, says the press release from “Arabella Hospitality”, which belongs to the Schörghuber group of companies. "Maintaining a house with an excellent reputation for the community of Lenggries was therefore also the goal of the owner, Munich-based Blue Lion GmbH, in the long-planned sale of the hotel property."

Ten months of “tough negotiations”, says Lenggries-based real estate entrepreneur Christoph Hertwig when asked.

He has known the object all his life.

It is about "making more of the hotel and leading it into the future".

The ideas apparently got through to the current owner.

Hertwig - he has a colleague from a Passau entrepreneurial family and two investors on board - and Blue Lion GmbH reached an agreement.

Nothing will change at the Arabella Brauneck Hotel Lenggries until November 2022

“Our aim is to implement a modern concept,” says Hertwig. However, the whole thing must also fit in with Lenggries. “We don't want a chic, but a three- or four-star hotel that appeals to the typical Lenggries clientele.” The ambience should be “casual, sporty, alpine,” says Hertwig. “No champagne, but rather good beer. No caviar, but rather good burgers. ”And it shouldn't be a problem for the active, sporty guests to walk a bit dirty through the lobby after a mountain bike tour.

There are already "some mind games". In any case, a complete renovation of around 110 rooms and bathrooms is necessary. The restaurant area also needs to be enlarged. The thought games will only be concretized when it is clear who will operate the hotel in the future. “Because we are real estate people, not hotel operators.” Initial discussions with interested parties are already being held here. And they are definitely there - thanks in part to Corona. Because of the pandemic, objects in rural areas, which are attracting more and more people looking for relaxation, have come more into focus, says Hertwig. But it is also conceivable for him that Arabella Hotel Betriebs GmbH, a subsidiary of Arabella Hospitality SE, which currently runs the hotel, will continue to do so in the future. Nothing will change until November 2022 anyway.Only then should the redesign process begin.

Arabella Brauneck-Hotel in Lenggries should definitely remain a hotel

On Monday evening, the municipal council was informed about the sale in a closed session. Mayor Stefan Klaffenbacher has been involved in the topic for a long time, says Hertwig. He also assures “that the hotel will definitely remain a hotel. We adhere to the development plan - also to this one, ”says the entrepreneur. This comment is no coincidence: In 2017, a consortium of investors under the management of Hertwig bought the Lenggries specialist clinic, which was surprisingly closed by the Asklepios Group. As a result, there were many rumors about the successor use. Hertwig had repeatedly been accused of wanting to build residential buildings on the site on Bergweg. Today the complex houses the specialist clinic for geriatric rehabilitation.
