It was still a bit shaky on its feet: firefighters used a mini excavator to fetch a newborn calf from a street in the Lippe district and bring it back to its mother.
The police announced on social media on Tuesday that the slope of the field next to the road had slipped down after the birth.
There the mother was already mooing desperately after her missing calf.
Horn-Bad Meinberg - Officials first tried to lead the calf back to the field - but instead, exhausted, it lay down on the street.
The fire brigade finally brought the newborn into its stable.
"What an excitement on the first day of life in this big world!" Wrote the police about the nightly operation on the weekend.
