Lots of part-time students in the northeast

According to the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE), the proportion of part-time students in the northeast is the third highest in a national comparison at 12.5 percent.

The number of student teachers has grown for the first time since 2012

On the occasion of World Teachers' Day on Tuesday, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Statistics Office announced an increasing number of student teachers in the state.

"For the first time since 2012, the total number of students aiming to become a teacher at general schools did not decline any further in the 2020/21 winter semester," said a statement from the Statistical Office in Schwerin on Monday.

According to the CHE survey, the number of part-time students nationwide reached a peak in the 2019/20 winter semester.

With an increase of 8,000 students over the previous year, the proportion of part-time students among all students was 7.7 percent, higher than ever, it said.
