Berlin's Governing Mayor and Senator for Science Michael Müller regretted the resignation of the President of the Humboldt University, Sabine Kunst.
The SPD politician announced on Tuesday that she had advanced the Humboldt University in many important areas and actively shaped Berlin as a location for science.
"We accept the resignation of Prof.
Berlin - Sabine Kunst acknowledges with regret and amazement. "
Art had announced her resignation at the end of the year a good six months after starting her second term.
The reason she cited was the amendment to the Berlin University Act (BerlHG).
"Personally, I consider the scientific policy of the BerlHG to be well-intentioned, but badly done," said a statement by the president on the university's website.
The changes in their entirety endangered the excellent further development of the Humboldt University and the scientific location of Berlin.
Müller rejected this: “The requirements of the new higher education law may be demanding, but they are important for the long-term strengthening of the location and can be easily implemented in the constructive cooperation between the universities and the Senate.
We would have very much wished for Sabine Kunst to be involved, ”said the SPD politician.
"Together with your successor and your colleagues at the other ten state universities in Berlin, we will continue to pursue our goal of ensuring excellent teaching, research and working conditions at our universities."

“Nobody should define too many red lines,” said the SPD politician on Sunday evening in the ARD's “Report from Berlin”.
It will always be a matter of finding sensible compromises in which all partners can find themselves and say that the overall direction is also their direction.
