The supply difficulties of operating materials also affect the market town.
The municipal school center has to postpone the opening
Markt Schwaben - Markt Schwaben's Mayor Michael Stolze informs about the new construction of a municipal school center, because this construction site is also affected by the general difficulty in supplying operating materials.
“The shell is finished and the trades for the 'shell' have now been awarded.
These concern the facades, the roof and the wooden structure for the future triple gym, ”explains Michael Stolze in a press release.
Work on the roof began in September, and the assembly of the first facade elements was scheduled for October. The current difficult situation with the procurement of materials also affects the company commissioned by the municipality. Their suppliers can now only give non-binding delivery dates for the profiles for windows and mullion-transom facades.
This fact has a direct effect on the schedule of the school construction project. Specifically, this means that the assembly of the wooden facade will be postponed and that there will be another delay in the construction process, regrets the municipality. The start of assembly of the facades has currently been promised for January 2022. Accordingly, the interior expansion work can only slowly pick up speed, as this requires a tight building. Unfortunately, these circumstances again have an impact on the planned construction period, so that the commissioning of the new elementary and secondary school center will now be postponed to the first day of school in September 2023.
In the course of the corona pandemic, there were intensive discussions and consultations on the subject of ventilation and air purification in the school. For the new building of the municipal school center, various concepts for air purification - based on controlled, mechanical fresh air supply - were developed and put to the test in the course of this year. A hybrid ventilation concept turned out to be the only feasible variant that expands the previously designed ventilation system and can still be integrated into the current construction process.
As a result, the municipal council recently decided to integrate this hybrid ventilation in all classrooms and specialist teaching rooms. For this purpose, ventilation devices are installed on the building roofs and ventilation outlets on the ceilings in the corresponding rooms, which effect a continuous and controlled exchange of room air.
Natural ventilation by opening the window is still possible.
With this concept, the highest level of indoor air quality will be ensured in the long term for the new school center in Markt Schwaben.
