Police will reopen a criminal case against Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Arie King, after he was documented last year dragging a protester to the floor during a demonstration in Balfour.

The deputy mayor was documented behaving violently towards a demonstrator, during the evacuation of Paris Square by local police. The protester, Gili Levy, filed a complaint with the police, who decided to close the case after they said no criminal infrastructure had been found. Levy appealed the decision, and together with citizens filed another complaint against King Attorney General. Now Attorney's office decided to reopen the investigation.

The demonstration was held on July 15 last year, attended the demonstration outside the residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. About two thousand people attended the demonstration And at the end of the city center, blocked the rail and confronted the police. The police used force and water in order to evacuate the demonstrators. At the same time, the deputy mayor and the right of the right Lion King dragged the demonstrator Gili Levy, and Levy had cursed him.

King claimed he did not commit a criminal offense because he assisted the security forces.

Police decided to close the case last year, out of innocence they claim in the absence of a criminal infrastructure.

Gili Levy and his lawyer Michal Pomerantz received the materials of the investigation, and were surprised to find that the police did not interrogate King at all about the incident.

Now, more than a year after the incident, the prosecution has decided to accept the appeal and return the case to the police. "It is clear to me that the police are political," Levy said. "I filed a complaint and had no expectations from the police, which amazes me that even on the face of it they did not investigate the case and did not summon witnesses. My hope is that the case will be settled with Aryeh King, "Check a house and act resolutely against any extremist who seeks to drag us into bloodshed."

Advocate Michal Pomerantz, representing the demonstrator Gili Levy, welcomed the prosecutor's decision: "It is inconceivable that a public figure would attack a demonstrator and determine that there is no criminal offense. "It is to be hoped that this time the police will stand on the severity chosen by a public that allows itself to take the law into its own hands and act violently against a political opponent, and will investigate Mr. King for his assault on Mr. Levy."

The police stated that "after the investigation of the person involved in the case and by virtue of the authority of the person in charge of the investigation, a decision was made to close the case due to the absence of a criminal offense, subject to the law of police authority to demand assistance from a person." In the State Attorney's Office, but we have not yet received their decision. "
