The local council had a favorite, but experts quickly discontinued it.

A new solution had to be found for the traffic situation on Feldstrasse - and quickly, because work should start after the next snowmelt.

Rottach-Egern

- The Feldstrasse in Rottach-Egern has developed into an attractive and highly frequented excursion and leisure area. Tennis courts, mini golf course, Voitlhof, playground, sport shooting club and more can be found there. In order to cope with the volume of traffic and, above all, to ensure the safety of everyone in this area, the municipal council had thought about a redesign in a closed session. The reason was the laying of a new water pipe, which means that the roadway has to be redone anyway. The aim was to design the area in such a way that all road users have enough space and that cars and cyclists are slowed down.

The municipal council favorite was finally a variant that envisages a speed limit of 20 kilometers per hour with a colored marking and without narrowing the lane - as well as a walkway and bike path parallel to the tennis courts. The proposal was sent to experts such as road planner Lorenz Strohschneder, the police and TC Rottach-Egern for comments. As Mayor Christian Köck (CSU) now explained in the local council, there were concerns and objections that ultimately mean the end of this variant: "What was decided last time is waste," said Köck, but at the same time made it clear how important one is quick decision-making.

Because if you want to be ready for the main season and want to hold Rosstag there in September 2022, you have to tackle the renewal of Feldstrasse including the parking spaces in spring. This, in turn, is required by the tender this year. Köck: “It's about a renovation in which safety and diverse uses are important. We wanted and should implement them without making savings or building a trap. ”The mayor therefore recommended an alternative variant to the committee, which the committee then followed with 15: 2.

Accordingly, at the level of Dr.

Mohr-Straße and after the tennis courts two pavements, each five meters long.

These should be covered with granite stone and executed at a shallow angle so that they can be passed by wheelchair and walker drivers, prams and horse-drawn carriages.

However, they are also intended to draw drivers' attention to a restricted traffic zone.

More safety on Feldstrasse: parking spaces are sufficiently wide

The parking spaces should be long meters deep and 2.50 meters wide.

However, a total of six meters should be kept in front of them so that trunk and bike hangers can be emptied or stocked safely.

Thomas Tomaschek (Greens) thought that was a lot exaggerated: "Actually, you shouldn't give cars any space so that people don't even drive them."

The extension of the footpath and bike path coming from Sonnenmoosstraße past the tennis courts that Tomaschek had represented is waived - at the request of the TC Rottach-Egern: Tennis is a concentration sport, it said. One feared conflict situations between the passers-by, the spectators of sporting events and the athletes. “This also serves to protect passers-by who would be frightened if a ball thundered against the fence. And also the winter service, ”said Köck. At the level of the Cafè Gäuwagerl, the paving stones and the fence that separates the food distribution area from Feldstrasse are to be preserved. That is why they want to relocate the street a bit in the direction of the sports shooting house for 50,000 euros.

After some discussion about the length, height and condition of the paving and the associated potential noise pollution, Georg Höß (FWG) proposed a consistent reduction of the speed to 10 km / h in view of the “dangerous narrowing” of the roadway that the paving would bring with it.

Some nodded in agreement.

Ultimately, however, only seven municipal councils spoke out in favor of it in the separate vote.

This means that in future only a maximum of 20 km / h will be allowed on Feldstrasse.

The coexistence of cyclists, horses, cars, agricultural traffic, pedestrians, athletes and, above all, children at this hotspot should be safe.
