A good six months after starting her second term in office, Sabine Kunst, President of Berlin's Humboldt University, announced her resignation.
The reason she cited was the amendment to the Berlin University Act (BerlHG).
"Personally, I consider the scientific policy of the BerlHG to be well-intentioned but badly made," said a statement by the president on the university's website.
Berlin - At the end of the year, art wants to step down from office.
The changes in their entirety endangered the excellent further development of the Humboldt University and the scientific location of Berlin.
“On the basis of my experience and convictions, I cannot support this political decision and therefore resign from my office,” said Kunst.
Funding is not sufficient for profound changes in the sense of the new law.
The amendment to the BerlHG leads, among other things, to a change in the university's personnel structures.
The number of permanent scientific staff will increase significantly over the next few years.
“Our current structures are not geared towards this,” says Kunst.
