The head of the Media Policy Committee of the Russian Federation Council, Alex Pushkov, confirmed that Facebook regards Western officials and politicians with preferential treatment, which makes it lose objectivity in its work.
And the British Financial Times newspaper revealed yesterday, quoting an investigation launched based on what was revealed by former employee of the company, Francis Hogan, that the leadership of Facebook allows celebrities and politicians to publish what they want without any restrictions, which violates some rules of the network and directly interferes in the process of modifying Facebook content.
Commenting on these reports, Pushkov said in a statement to TASS, “As for the issue of giving ideological and intellectual preference to certain parties;
I am confident that Facebook will continue to work to increase the liberal and pro-Western element in global politics and it is unimaginable that it can suddenly become an objective platform that will give equal opportunities for everyone to express their opinions.”
Pushkov explained that Facebook operates within the system of American information tools and is based on supporting certain principles represented by American hegemony and the liberal approach to politics and condemning anyone who speaks of positions based on his traditions, and this, in my opinion, will not change.
Pushkov pointed out that the entire company consists of contradictions and double standards, noting that for this reason he was not surprised by the information that a number of politicians enjoy preferential treatment when publishing on this network.
The American Wall Street Journal also revealed yesterday, quoting internal documents and correspondence of the company, that Facebook, which is based in the United States, makes its decisions regarding the supervision of content based on political motives.
