Sauerlach - Does Sauerlach want a new high school?

This fundamental question has now been discussed in the local council.

In the end there was a clear decision.

The planned high school in Sauerlach has already caused a lot of discussions in advance.

The most recent meeting of the municipal council also saw heated expressions of opinion.

In the end, however, a decision was made in favor of a new high school in the east of the Sauerlach.

Large audiences gathered in the multi-purpose hall to hear the council's decision regarding the school.

In February 2021, both the finance and education ministries gave the green light for a new state high school in the municipality.

They are making large funds available from the Bavarian state budget for this purpose.

In order to be able to apply for this on time, it was important to Mayor Barbara Bogner to finally make a decision for or against the large construction project at the meeting.

Miesbach district acts as a property developer

First, the committee voted against three votes in favor of a declaration of intent vis-à-vis the association for secondary schools in the south of the Munich district. He will operate the planned high school as a material expense manager and negotiate with the property owner. He had already presented possible variants of cooperation to the committee in advance in a closed meeting. The district of Munich acts as the developer.

As Bogner explained, the municipality could imagine an investor model for the large-scale project.

How this should look like will be decided by the association.

However, according to managing director Norbert Hohenleitner, buying the property by the municipality is less of an option.

However, the municipality concludes an urban development contract with the landowner in advance in order to determine important cornerstones such as the necessary infrastructure in the building area.

"We have been discussing this for months now"

Axel Horn (Greens) was concerned about the possible negative consequences of an investor model.

Group colleague Robert Spinnler, the development in the East Sauerlachs went too fast.

"That would be a major expansion to the north, which was actually intended for a longer period of time", he expressed his concerns about the necessary change in the zoning plan into a residential and commercial area.

Wolfgang Büsch (Greens) initially did not want to agree to a decision for a previously undeveloped area.

The town hall chief made it clear that the urban development contract drawn up with lawyers would record the latter.

However, the objections of Horn and Spinnler made the mayor incomprehensible: "We have been discussing this for months."

Information event for citizens required

Markus Hoffmann (CSU) also did not understand the heated discussions in the committee: "If we don't manage that, the high school will go to Taufkirchen or somewhere else." Götz von Borries (UBV) didn't understand the excitement either, the committee gave the Approval but only one letter of intent per grammar school.

Michaela Haas (Greens) missed the transparency of the procedure and called for an information event for the citizens.

"The citizens are heard in the planning process, this goes public from today," countered the mayor of this accusation.

Special area for secondary schools

The committee then resolved the necessary change to the zoning plan against four votes.

This now includes the area from the S-Bahn station to the planned location north of the industrial park on Hofoldinger Straße.

This relatively large area is especially important for planning the transport links, said Jeanette Schaffert, Head of the Building Department.

The municipal councils voted against a majority of three votes in favor of the decision to set up the development plan for the grammar school north of Ludwig-Bölkow-Straße.

It is now a special area for secondary schools and sports as well as commercial and residential developments.
