The SPD parliamentary group has spoken out in favor of continuing corona tests in schools beyond November 24 - even if then possibly no more pandemic emergency should apply.
"The situation in Thuringia is still very critical and will continue to be so after November 24th," said the SPD education politician Thomas Hartung on Tuesday.
Erfurt - "If nationwide rules are dropped, the more the state has a responsibility to ensure that schools and day-care centers run safely."
After long controversies, the red-red-green state government decided last week that the warning level 2 corona rules should apply in all schools in Thuringia after the autumn break.
This means that tests have to be offered twice a week.
Students who have not been vaccinated, recovered or tested must be taught in separate study groups.
This should initially apply until November 24th.

The reason for the limitation is a proposal by Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU).
He advocates not continuing the declaration of a pandemic emergency beyond November 24th.
This would mean that this basis for ordinances and central corona regulations in Germany would no longer apply from November 25th.
Should it come to that, the state government wants to make a new decision on the measures in schools.
In the meantime, at least the Corona warning level 2 according to the early warning system applies in almost all Thuringian districts and independent cities.
