With the participation of Syria, the seventh annual Moscow International Forum for Peace and Religion was opened today in the Russian capital under the slogan (Religious and Cultural Dialogue in the Contemporary World Space).

The head of the Syrian delegation to the forum, Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, stressed in a speech during the opening that Syria is the cradle of civilizations and the source of divine messages, indicating that the Syrians carried their sacred message throughout history through their interest in education. The educational process in Syria throughout history was an important bearer of this lofty message that was on It formed customs and traditions that unite people with their human values ​​and turned into an educational curriculum in which people learn tolerance, love and acceptance of the other and other human values ​​that have become educational values ​​adopted in most countries of the world.

Dr. Tabbaa explained that this role made Syria vulnerable to many wars throughout history, but it was facing it steadfastly, patient and able to overcome adversity and endure hardships to maintain its primary mission in conveying the lofty message to humanity that it carried.

He pointed out that the Syrian society has made moral education carried by the monotheistic religions a part of its educational curricula, so the Ministry of Education has set clear human values ​​as a basis for Islamic and Christian religious education curricula that are taught in its schools. Which made the Syrian society a cohesive society and able to address the challenges it faces, especially the attempts that seek to dismantle it, sabotage its national cohesion, and cast doubt on its values, symbols and honorable history.

Dr. Tabaa emphasized the important role of Syrian-Russian relations in strengthening the educational role in the Syrian society and the need to strengthen this relationship for the common interest of the two countries and peoples.

In their speeches during the opening session of the forum, the speakers pointed out the vital and urgent nature of the issues under discussion, foremost of which is Syria's steadfastness and victory in combating terrorism, interfaith and intercultural dialogue, and countering terrorism and extremism, noting that the forum allows for the exchange of positive experience among participants from different countries.

In an interview with SANA’s correspondent in Moscow, the Minister of Education said that the Syrian experience under the conditions of the terrorist war is of great importance, and that this experience has educational aspects, indicating that what is required is to show the educational aspect in rebuilding the human being and in creating a new relationship for this new generation away from extremism and terrorism.

Tabbaa explained that the Syrian experience is a rare experience, and what Syria has been exposed to during the last ten years is unprecedented throughout world history, as there was a tragedy that had educational roots as a result of some educational systems in some countries that do not condemn extremism and terrorism. Therefore, this forum had to clarify The basic idea lies in that addressing extremism is through building new humane educational values ​​that are recognized by the whole world, without there being overlap and conflict between educational rules and systems, and this was the message that we wanted to convey from Syria to the Forum and from there to the whole world.

The Minister of Education stressed that without building a new person, a new economy cannot be built, pointing out that most of our problems are caused by educational systems, so we must teach people skills through which they can analyze, compare and take the most effective solution to their problems.

In a similar interview, the Mufti of Moscow and the Assembly of Russian Muslims, a member of the Social Chamber in Russia, Sheikh Albert Karganov, said that the importance of this forum lies in the fact that religion at all times and places calls for peace, and that holding such a forum several times in Russia indicates that it cares to a great extent for sound and brotherly relations. between religions.

The Mufti added, “We are proud of the presence of the Syrian delegation among us,” expressing his heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs who were assassinated by the treachery of the terrorist bombing of the military overnight bus in Damascus.

Member of the Russian State Duma, Sergei Gavrilov, stressed in a similar interview that the importance of this forum lies in the fact that it participates in preparing our countries and peoples to establish peace and justice in the world and in confronting all forms of extremism, aggression and Western attempts to distort human societies and push them towards terrorism and moral decay using false terms of democracy and human rights to ignite Internal wars create chaos in countries they dislike.

Gavrilov pointed out that Syria managed to break the backbone of international terrorism, pointing out that Syria today is a shining example of combating terrorism and extremism and of supporting peace in the world to be the ideal image of just peace in the world and in the Middle East region.

In turn, the representative of the Ministry of Endowments, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sayed, pointed out in a similar interview the importance of the forum in terms of attendance and great representation of religious and intellectual figures in it and the nature of the topics it discusses to denounce extremism and terrorism, referring to the distinguished and ancient Islamic-Christian relationship in Syria, which can serve as a model for the world in Syria as it is known It is the cradle of Christianity and the starting point of Islam, and the Islamic-Christian relationship in it is unpretentious and not artificial, because it is a natural relationship where coexistence is of a natural and beautiful nature, and this was one of the reasons for targeting Syria.

In another interview, Dr. Raymond Hilal, a member of the People's Assembly and head of the Association (Khotwa) for prosthetics, said: The importance of the forum comes through great cooperation at the level of interfaith dialogue and confronting terrorism and religious extremism.

For her part, Dr. Rima Mirza, Secretary of the Development Fund to Support Syrian Youth in Small and Micro Enterprises, said that it is very useful for the Syrian delegation to participate in the forum, indicating that focusing on the importance of civilized, cultural and religious values ​​is very important, knowing that each country has its own specificity in these values ​​that must be preserved despite attempts West destroyed.

On the sidelines of the forum, an agreement was signed between the Syrian Trust for Development and the International Christian Union on cooperation and exchange of experience to develop participatory programs.

The Syrian delegation participating in the conference included Syria's Ambassador in Moscow, Dr. Riyad Haddad, President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdeen, and Head of the Excellence and Creativity Authority, Engineer Hala Dakkak, and a number of Islamic and Christian clerics, members of the People's Assembly and representatives of local associations.

The forum is being held this year with the participation of about a thousand Russian and foreign government, religious and social figures, including representatives of 17 countries in the world.
