This year winter should be fun again.

Even if the number of corona cases is rising again: Munich is in the starting blocks for the Winter Tollwood and other events.

It is the first larger tent since the beginning of the pandemic that is not used for vaccination or testing purposes: The winter tollwood is currently growing on the Theresienwiese.

After a year of Corona break, it will be a bit smaller this year, but it will take place again with gastro and show tents.

We have all the details about the winter festival.

The tent city will be back at Theresienwiese from November 24th to December 23rd under the motto “Upwind!”. In addition to the usual open-air area with stands, there will be five tents this year, one for organic gastronomy, three market tents with products from all over the world and a live music tent. "The Weltsalon tent and the theater tent will not exist this year - we are currently planning without a New Year's Eve program," explains spokeswoman Christiane Stenzel. The organizers are already looking forward to it, because this year's summer festival was allowed to take place, but still without its well-known tents.

Fire and light elements characterize the festival this winter: be it with the fire theater of the artistry group “Die Flugträumer” (November 26th to 28th) or the fire performance by Andrea Salustri - both large-format productions on the open-air forecourt of the festival.

New this winter: the magic forest.

It will be a wintry-Christmassy area with a twelve meter high Christmas tree made of glitter balls in the middle.

Also planned for the first time: four ice stock rinks that can do without electricity and water and can be booked on the website or on site.

The corona requirements for the Tollwood will only be set shortly before the festival starts due to the current dynamic infection situation.

A few weeks ago it became known that the majority of the other, usual Christmas markets would take place - according to the current status without admission controls and mask requirements.

Only Munich Airport canceled its market for this year.

The market at Marienplatz (November 22 to December 24) as well as in the Kaiserhof of the Residenz (November 18 to December 22), Pink Christmas at Stephansplatz (November 22 to January 9), in Haidhausen ( November 23 to December 24) and in Schwabing (November 26 to December 24).

Feuerzangenbowle and fun on the ice rink

The Munich Feuerzangenbowle with its huge, steaming kettle will also be a guest at the Isartor this year: from November 22nd to January 6th. The second traditional event, the Munich Ice Magic at Stachus with ice skating rink and gastro stalls, is also firmly planned to date, from November 19 to January 16. There is already more ice skating fun in the Olympic Ice Sports Center. In addition to the normal public run, events such as the disco evenings take place again. Admission with 3 G. A mask is compulsory - on the ice rink you can do without a mask. The ice rink in the Prinzregentenbad should also open in November - when exactly depends on the weather. The corona requirements have not yet been set here.

In the meantime, ice stock sport has also become a popular leisure activity in Munich.

Some restaurants such as the Königliche Hirschgarten (eight lanes from November 29) and the Augustinerkeller (six lanes from November 15) are planning to have their ice cream fun again this year.
