Wolfratshausen - The police are warning of a new scam: Alleged BKA calls forward unsuspecting victims to a chargeable number.

On Friday, October 22nd, around 2 p.m., a 23-year-old Wolfratshauser was amazed when he received a call from a computer voice - allegedly in the name of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).

The voice said that the young man was involved in criminal activities, reports police chief inspector Benedikt Schlichte.

To find out more and to be connected to an "officer", he should dial number one.

The 23-year-old correctly suspected “that it could be a scam and fortunately did not follow the instructions, so there was no harm”.

The police are warning of a new scam: The calls come from landlines in Wiesbaden.

The phone numbers are not real.

If the injured party follows the prompts of the computer voice, they are forwarded unnoticed to chargeable numbers.

The police advise: “Don't follow the instructions and just hang up.

Victims should report to their local police station.
