Children's clinics in Bavaria have been complaining for years about massive exposure, especially in the autumn and winter months, when influenza and other so-called respiratory viruses are on the way.

Now, after months of lockdown, daycare and school closings, contact restrictions and the strictest hygiene measures, the numbers of respiratory infections are skyrocketing - a circumstance that was announced months ago by experts with a view to opening up all areas of life *.

And now the children's clinics are also filling up - like in Erlangen.

The clinic informs

that it has eleven intensive care beds and a total of 146 beds for general pediatrics, pediatric cardiology, pediatric surgery and pediatric urology.

These are completely occupied.

"We are doing what we can to be able to take in at least a few new patients every day," says Director Prof. Dr.

Joachim Wölfle.

Nevertheless, it happens that, for example, children from Nuremberg *, Fürth or Erlangen have to go to a clinic in Coburg or Hof.
