'Metroid Dread': the return of Samus is one of the best games of the year

2021-10-27T18:20:15.736Z

One of Nintendo's favorite franchises is back. 'Metroid Dread' came from the hand of the new OLED Switch.

Since its announcement, it created great expectations and it is not for less.

I'm sure 'Metroid Dread' is one of the best Nintendo games of 2021 and the return of the franchise will satisfy fans.

This highly anticipated title is the perfect setting for the return of the heroine of the series, Samus, who now comes to the Nintendo Switch, but keeping the classic mechanics and trapping us in the different challenges in an addictive and fun way.

The video game was launched under all the spotlight because it was chosen to promote the new Nintendo Switch OLED (Available in

MX $ 9,999 and

USD $ 639;

on Amazon) whose screen is the star and 'Metroid Dread' could show the improvements that this console has in its portable mode.

On CNN Underscored in Spanish we had the opportunity to play 'Metroid Dread' and this was our experience.

Exploration is addictive and fun

'Metroid Dread' will feel familiar to fans of the franchise.

Players will be tasked with navigating interconnected sections of the map and discovering more sections (although this will not always be so straightforward).

Although I sometimes lost sight of where I needed to go next, progressing through the game becomes addictive, entertaining, and the game map is incredibly useful for intuiting in which areas to keep secrets and what power-ups to use to progress.

There are fights within the game that are a significant challenge that you will have to repeat if you die over and over again.

Something that is appreciated is that there is a significant number of save points, so you will not have to go back so much on each attempt.

As players begin to discover the necessary strategy, progressing on the map will become easier and you will discover the necessary strategy to make your way.

It is a game that is also very worthwhile on a technical level for its fluidity, its cinematics, its mechanics and the gameplay that will not give you a minute of respite.

The environments of the game are impressive.

I really enjoyed moving around the map and especially in Burenia seeing the rain fall and the waves crash.

The futuristic feeling is well developed and I would have liked to try the game on both my Switch and the OLED version to make that comparison, although connected to the television it is very enjoyable.

Regarding the sound design, it is quite complementary to the actions on the screen because although it sounds distant, at times it is relaxing and in the middle of the fights it will make you feel more stressed.
