Due to construction work, the busy Autobahn 40 near Duisburg in the direction of Essen is completely closed from this Friday (October 29th, 8:00 pm) to Tuesday (November 2nd, 5:00 am).
As the responsible project management company from the federal and state governments (Deges) announced on Wednesday, the closure will take place between the Duisburg-Rheinhausen junction and the Duisburg motorway junction.
Duisburg - diversions via the A57, A42 and A59 would be set up early.
The so-called Ruhrschnellweg (A40) is to be expanded further in the coming years.
It will be expanded to eight lanes between Duisburg-Homberg and Duisburg-Häfen.
The Neuenkamp Rhine Bridge is also being rebuilt.
In 2023, road users should already have three lanes in each direction on the new, southern superstructure.
The entire bridge construction will be completed according to plans in 2026, it said.
