The Bode Museum Berlin is opening up new perspectives on art treasures in its collection with a series entitled “The Second Look”.
The series wants to invite you to deal with current topics with the permanent exhibition.
After the first part, “Varieties of Love”, there are now six routes through the museum that take a special look at women.
Berlin - The team around curator María López-Fanjul y Díez del Corral deals with the role of women in European history or with the image from biblical and Christian stories.
A route leads past Donatello's famous marble work “Madonna and Child” from 1420, in which the Mother of God with little Jesus is not the focus, but gestures and posture seem to concentrate on a woman as a young mother with her son.
