They should help the industry out of the crisis.

Potsdam - The tourism industry in Brandenburg has not yet overcome the crisis mode.

After the losses in the summer, they are now betting on strong business in the fall and winter.

"People are hungry to leave their own four walls," said Economics Minister Jörg Steinbach on Wednesday in Potsdam.

City Council calls for: make disaster control weatherproof

As a lesson from the flood disaster in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia as well as the corona pandemic, the Hessian cities want to better set up disaster control in the state.

For this purpose, modern staff software that is uniform throughout Hesse is required, said the President of the Hessian City Council, the Mayor of Fulda Heiko Wingenfeld (CDU), after the meeting of the association's top committees on Thursday in Fulda.

Karlsruher SC satisfied despite losses of millions

Second division Karlsruher SC made a loss of around 5.8 million euros with its outsourced football department last season.

This number was named by the commercial director Michael Becker in a press conference on Thursday.

“We got through the crisis relatively well.

We can be satisfied, ”said Becker.

However, the association's liabilities increased to 12.9 million euros.

Hornbach with sales growth in the second quarter

The Hornbach Group, known for its home improvement chain of the same name, increased its sales in the second fiscal quarter (as of the end of August).

Revenues increased by 3.8 percent to 1.6 billion euros.

The adjusted operating result (EBIT) rose just as strongly from 161.9 to 168.1 million euros.

The bottom line was that the group stuck 118.4 million euros - 5.7 percent more than in the previous year, as the company announced on Thursday.

Nevertheless, Steinbach wants to continue to support tourism financially as a whole.

"The industry is still far from normal," said the SPD politician.

It is right to offer a lot of support.

Of the 652 million euros in aid disbursed, around 40 percent went to the tourism industry alone.

According to Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg, around three quarters of the tourism businesses stated that they were optimistic or neutral about the future in an industry survey.

However, there are great concerns about tightened corona measures.

“The companies say that they will not be able to cope with another lockdown in the radicalism,” said managing director Dieter Hütte.

"The industry therefore needs a strong autumn and winter."

The hoteliers wanted more individual solutions for the corona measures.

According to the survey, 60 percent of the companies do not want to make use of the 2G rule (vaccinated or recovered).

22 percent gave no answer.

The pandemic had shaken the industry.

This summer, too, she was far behind the success numbers of previous years, said Steinbach.

In hotels, inns and guest houses, the number of overnight stays fell to around 2.6 million between January and August.

That is 45 percent less than in the same period in 2019.

In contrast, there are vacations that you can design yourself, such as in holiday homes, on campsites or in houseboats.

These would have suffered significantly less.

“I've never seen so many caravans on the autobahn in my life,” said Steinbach.
