The traffic light parties want to let the pandemic emergency expire at the end of November and replace it with a transitional arrangement. This was announced by the parties in Berlin. The transitional regulation is intended to enable the federal states to continue to enforce certain corona protective measures such as mask requirements and 2G or 3G rules. Measures such as simplified access to basic security and the Corona occupational health and safety ordinance are also to be extended. In addition, the traffic light parties want to extend the pandemic-related special regulations on child benefit "into the year 2022",
The number of infections would rise again, according to SPD politician Dirk Wiese.
But from the point of view of the traffic light parties, the prerequisites for the epidemic situation no longer exist.
There will be no more lockdowns.
These are "disproportionate".
November 25th, however, will »not be Freedom Day«.
The situation is different than in August, said Wiese.
This is mainly due to an increasing number of people who have been vaccinated.
The prerequisites for a renewed extension of the emergency are no longer met - therefore this was not an option.
SPD parliamentary group leader Rolf Mützenich had announced a few days ago that the possible future partners of a traffic light coalition were under discussion about new regulations in the Infection Protection Act.
These should enable the countries to continue to react to corona challenges.
The “epidemic situation” was first determined by the Bundestag in March 2020.
Since then, Parliament has repeatedly extended it.
The determination of the emergency enables the federal government and the state governments to order central corona measures in a simplified way without the consent of parliaments.
If it is not extended again, according to the Infection Protection Act, the federal states still have the option of determining the need for further corona measures via their state parliaments, so that an expiry would not automatically result in the end of measures.
In the countries, however, warnings are given against a »patchwork quilt« and the associated lack of acceptance.
The corona numbers in Germany have recently continued to rise.
After a push by the executive Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn to end the "epidemic situation", it was discussed controversially for days - especially because of the increasing number of infections.
The CDU politician is in favor of the "epidemic situation" coming to an end, but insists on the necessary protective rules.
