The Doemens Academy has quietly opened another chapter in its 100-year history and has put its new building in Graefelfinger Lohenstrasse into operation.

The big move from Stefanusstrasse within three days went smoothly.

The new premises inspire their users.

Due to the corona, there should no longer be an inauguration ceremony this year.

Gräfelfing -

"We have already made four brews", says Andreas Brandl and shines with the four new stainless steel brewing vessels in the brewhouse. Brandl is the deputy headmaster of the academy, which works as a training, further education and consulting company for the brewing, beverage and food industries, and is also a member of the Doemens management team. And he has every reason to be happy.

Because the spacious new building on the corner of Pasingerstrasse and Lohenstrasse on the edge of the Lochhamer Schlag business park is the ultimate in a teaching facility for master brewers, food masters, beverage managers and numerous other professions for which Doemens in Graefelfing offers HWK / IHK degrees. The supreme discipline in international education are the diploma and master classes that Doemens conducts as part of the World Brewing Academy in cooperation with the Siebel Institute of Technology (Chicago, USA).

On three floors and 3800 m2 of usable space (plus underground car park with 44 parking spaces), eleven lecture halls and seminar rooms, the technical center with a complete production line and filling system on the ground floor, a canteen, laboratories for microbiology and services such as yeast bank and certification, as well as offices for administration and employees .

The Doemensians aren't exactly peddling the costs, but the total price is likely to have been between 28 and 30 million euros.

The Free State took over almost 7 million euros of this, as State Minister Hubert Aiwanger emphasized at the laying of the foundation stone in February 2020.

There were also sponsors and helpers from the brewing industry, which has a keen interest in high-quality training.

The fact that the Doemens Academy did not have to leave Graefelfing after 55 years in Schmidbauer / Stefanusstraße in order to expand and modernize itself is due not only to a lucky coincidence, but also to the efforts of the community, which succeeded with the participation of the then mayor Uta Wüst, to moderate a property swap, at the end of which Doemens received the new building site, the municipality was able to acquire the previous property and the original interested party could build the “Grefis” hotel on the rear part on Lohenstrasse, which is also looking forward to its opening.

The move took place smoothly.

The courses only paused for two days.

And just as quickly, students, employees and course instructors got used to the beautiful, new work environment.

“We now have modern, contemporary, well-equipped rooms.

The new building was a necessary and correct step, ”says Andreas Brandl.

The deputy headmaster really goes into raptures when he describes the new dynamic among the students.

“You voluntarily stay together in our beautiful canteen after the courses and learn together.

You can feel a completely new momentum in these new rooms and a completely different togetherness. "
