Gilching - The three teams at the top of the table in the Landesliga Südwest did not show any nakedness at the end of the first half of the season.
Top runners Sonthofen, the second Nördlingen and also the third, TSV Gilching, won their games, so that nothing changed in the ranking.
The TSV of coach Peter Schmidt didn’t let anything burn with tenth SV Mering with a 2-0 win.
"That was a grown-up performance by my team," stated Schmidt with satisfaction. Whereby there was definitely room for improvement on the offensive, while the Gilchinger defense was very good and allowed almost nothing. In the first half the excitement was limited. When TSV captain Maximilian Hölzl fell in a duel with Mering's goalkeeper Julian Baumann, the referee's whistle remained mute, which Schmidt saw differently. "For me it was a clear penalty," said the Gilching coach, whose team scored one more goal before the break. A header from Hölzl landed at Murat Ersoy (45th) and his shot from a good 16 meters landed over the inside post to make it 1-0 in the box. After the change, things got even better for the guests. The pass from Jonas Engelhardt, who made a good game, was used by Marco Brand (50.),whose shot was deflected to make it 2-0. The Meringers then tried to increase the pressure, which did not really work because the TSV defense was secure. Goalkeeper Felix Ruml only had to take action once.
The away win of Gilching, who are now required on Saturday (2 p.m.) in the derby at table ninth SC Olching, was ultimately not in danger.
