The government of Upper Bavaria has approved the plan for the partially three-lane expansion of federal road 2 between Wielenbach and Pähl.

Wielenbach

- The almost 2.5 kilometer long construction section begins in the south at the junction to the state road towards Wielenbach / Pähl and ends in the north at the confluence of the district road to Pähl at the petrol station.

Mainly the junction at the junction towards Tutzing is to be massively rebuilt.

"This has long been a hotspot for accidents," says Andreas Lenker from the Weilheim State Building Authority.

The interventions will be spectacular: in future, the state road towards Tutzing will be connected with a bridge in order to straighten out the dangerous entry and exit situation.

So that the bridge does not protrude too high, the hill is also dug up a bit, says Lenker.

At the same time, the three-lane area in the direction of Weilheim will be lengthened somewhat and a new three-lane area will be built in the opposite direction in order to create safe overtaking sections.

The also confusing confluence with the Wilzhofen industrial park on Schützenstraße is completely closed.

Further planning steps in the next year

In the process, the government of Upper Bavaria examined the statements of 22 authorities, other public bodies, recognized nature conservation associations and private objectors and took them into account as far as possible. Nature conservation and forest-related compensation measures are carried out on a total area of 3.47 hectares. The planning approval decision has a concentration effect and thus includes and replaces all individual public law permits required under other legal provisions. The decision, together with the planning documents, is available for inspection for two weeks in the municipality of Wielenbach, the municipality of Pähl and the municipality of Tutzing after prior announcement in accordance with local practice. “We hope there are no lawsuits. Then, after further planning steps, we may be able to start construction next year, ”says Lenker. The 14.6 million euro project will not really get started until 2023.
