With a shock call to a 69-year-old pensioner from the Hanover region, fraudsters stole 80,000 euros.
To hand over 40,000 euros each, the criminals lured their victim twice to a seemingly reputable place, namely the Wolfsburg district court.
The police there announced on Wednesday.
A supposed sales representative received the money.
Wolfsburg - In the case of last Thursday, the phone fraudsters had acted with distributed roles.
A woman called the 69-year-old and pretended to be her daughter.
She claimed she killed a young child.
Then an alleged police officer reported.
She said the daughter was in custody and could only be released on bail of 80,000 euros.

The police warned against believing such shock calls and handing money over to strangers: “The police do not call anyone and urge the money to be handed over.” Dpa
