Hannover 96 reached the round of 16 of the DFB Cup with a 3-0 (1-0) win against Fortuna Düsseldorf.
In the clash of the second division soccer team, three good moves were enough for Lower Saxony to defeat the Rhinelander on Wednesday evening.
Sebastian Kerk (30th minute) and Maximilian Beier with a late double strike (90th + 2 / 90th + 5) scored the goals for the troubled team of coach Jan Zimmermann in front of 11,300 spectators.
Hanover - Fortuna, which was disappointing for a long time, only became more active late and deservedly retired.
The hosts, often harmless on the offensive this season, had to take their first setback before kick-off: striker Lukas Hinterseer injured himself while warming up. For him came Linton Maina.
