Hapoel Tel Aviv and Betar Jerusalem were on disciplinary action tonight (Wednesday) for a riot of fans in a game between the teams last week.
As you may recall, the Red fans threw objects at the Jerusalem goalkeeper, Itamar Nitzan, for long minutes, causing a great delay in the opening of the second half.
On the other hand, Betar fans threw torches on the lawn and they too threw objects at the Reds goalkeeper Ernest Shtakus.
Both teams argued at the hearing that if the court punished them it would be a victory for the rioting fans.
Itzik Nisnov, one of the owners of Hapoel, said at the hearing: "Hapoel Tel Aviv will come to the court every week because a small handful do not want the owner of the club. They do everything on purpose against us. "It's like dealing with a terrorist organization, I want to solve the problem."
Advocate Yitzhak Junger, who serves as Moshe Hogg's representative at the club, said from the angle of Betar Jerusalem: "We are making every effort so that all those rioters do not enter, but this struggle costs hundreds if not millions of shekels. It would not be right to punish us. The fans "These will be happy with the injury to the owner who will snatch a fine and take money out of his pocket. The owner has taken a step back and he is not investing any more money, so another fine will hurt the club. We are asking for help from the court, not punishment."
